The purpose of the Brother Aidan Thompson chapter of the National Junior Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to encourage good citizenship in the students of Saint Joseph Academy. The Brother Aidan Thompson chapter of the NJHS shall devote its energies in service to the entire student body of Saint Joseph Academy, but especially to the students of the 7th and 8th grades.

Membership in the NJHS is both an honor and responsibility. Students selected are expected to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and character by which they were selected.

Selection for membership is by a faculty council based on outstanding scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship, and character. Students may not apply for membership.

To be eligible for induction, the candidate must be in the 8th or 9th grade. Candidates must have been in attendance at Saint Joseph Academy the equivalent of one semester. Candidates must have a minimum cumulative scholastic average of 94 percent at the end of the spring semester of the current school year. Candidates shall then be evaluated on the basis of their character, citizenship, service, and leadership. While academic criterion is important and should be considered first, membership is never considered on the basis of grades alone. The candidates must use their gifts that the Lord has given them to better themselves and others.
