Transforming Lives and Instilling Hope for Tomorrow

Yes! I want to help

In partnership with the Guadalupe Regional Middle School (GRMS), the Montagne Scholars Program is Saint Joseph Academy's initiative to enroll and cultivate at-risk, economically disadvantaged, academically qualified students by providing optimal amounts of financial aid and targeted academic and social support. Each May, qualified GRMS graduating eighth grade students are accepted and enrolled at Saint Joseph Academy (SJA) to begin their intensive life-skills, leadership and college preparatory training in high school A special Montagne Moderator works in tandem with the Student Advocate and a guidance counselor to monitor the student's individual progress in academics, social skills, and integration into the SJA community. The students also are actively involved in community service projects and learn first-hand how giving back to the community changes lives for both the giver and receiver. An important tenet of our mission is to make Jesus known and loved to all our students. All our Montagne Scholars come from very humble backgrounds and some are the first in their family to have the opportunity for a college preparatory education with a dedicated support group to ensure they have access to scholarship opportunities. These students have a heart for giving back because they have been given so much. We are proud to report that 100% of all students are accepted into an institution of higher education and advanced learning.

Many of our Montagne Scholars graduate with full scholarships into universities across the United States including; Baylor University, Columbia University, MIT, Texas A&M University, Our Lady of the Lake University, St. Edward's University, St. Mary's University, The University of Texas at Austin, Rio Grande Valley, and San Antonio, and University of the Incarnate Word. This program started in 2005 and we continue to track these students through college and career to be able to show the true return on investment in these amazing students and the long-term impact on their families and our community.
